has anyone used this LCD (128x64px)

Has anyone used This LCD (CrystalFontz 128x64px)...

It is nice and small yet has decent resolution that can be used to display many things. It is also cheap, and already has plugins that can be used for winamp and the like.

Seem like a good deal, $37 for the LCD itself, $12 for an inverter, and it can plug into your parallel port with minor wiring connections.

What do people think?

I've seen a few people who commented on things like this, Rob seems to have used one, if you're reading this, why did you stop using it exactly?

LCDInfo looks like a good program for the task. Already has many plugins available and is designed for use specifically with this and one other controller chip.

There's also the software listed here direct from CrystalFontz which you can use. There's also links to other pieces of software at the bottom of that page.

Now they have some of these LCDs with "built in negative voltage generator" for $38.

I take it that is what is needed to operate the backlight? So if I get one with this then I don't need any inverter or anything to operate it with the backlight?
