Unhappy Xenarc Problems

Just bought a used 700TSV from the classifieds here. Plugged it into my laptop and a wall outlet. The power light comes on, stays solid for about 2-3 secs and starts blinking. There is no video, screen is completely black. Tried FN+f4, tried pressing the "S" button on the monitor, nothing. Tried it on my desktop computer and nothing there as well.

It looks like the warranty label is still on so i would assume the prev owner didn't open it. Anything I can do at this point to troubleshoot? Or am I SOL and need to ask for refund?

What resolution are you feeding the Xenarc?

Originally had it 1024x768, then turned it down to 800x600. Neither worked. I don't think the integrated video can do 800x480. But shouldn't the xenarc automatically shrink or stretch the resolution?

auto detect at power on

The Xenarc will look for a signal when first turned on. If it can't detect one, it will politely turn itself back off and never look again. It should show 800x600 with no problem. Check your connections and reboot. You can also try the RCA inputs to see if they work. Good luck.

It DOES continue looking for a signal. Unfortunately it's PAINFULLY slow for it to detect one. It takes like 5 to 10 seconds from the time I boot the computer to the time the screen comes on - so at first you might think it's not going to recognize it, but it will. You just have to be patient.

It works!

Thanks for the help guys. I talked to the prev owner and he said to try the car adapter cause he only tested the ac adapter for power. And it works great in the car.

I came back and took another look at the ac adapter and it said output 5v

He probably sent the wrong ac adapter by mistake. So just in case anyone run into this kind of thing in the future, make sure the ac plug is 12v output!

By the way, I think most xenarcs have voltage regulators built in so all those tests with a 5v source shouldn't damage the circuitry in the screen... should it?
