Yes, That panel itself appears to be the same; However, the pcb's are different. Remember The 619 has two input connectors VGa, and the compsite connector, And the 629 handles it all in one plug. To me, speaking from experience, The 629 is preferred for custom applications (Bezels, boltin kit...). The Placement of the connector allows for more room in tight situations, and is a heck of a lot more solid. In contrast to the 619, it sort of hangs off the side, and is a little more flimsy.

I bought the new 629 off of ebay anyhow because it was just as cheap at $250 as any of the new 619 models I could find. And the seller did assure me it was the 2008 model number.

Well since fitment is the key, Ill probably go with the 629 but I still would rather know which screen is brighter and better.

Well, i just took a quick comparison shot. The monitors are on the exact same settings, and this photo has not been adjusted, aside from a crop and a resize.

I would like to see a side by side in sunlight. Many people claim that's where the difference is really noticeable.
Edit: Didn't realize there was a larger picture available. Also didn't realize these were different models, 619 on the left and 629 on the right. I thought you were comparing the 08 Lilliput to the previous versions. Sorry for my stupidity.

The 12v input? That's how the monitor gets it's power. That's how mine is currently powered right now.

I'm pretty sure it isn't an output cable. Unless we're talking about two different plugs. I'm talking about the barrel connector that's on the same SKS connector as the DIN cable, the two video inputs and the one audio input. I think it's in parallel to the other barrel connector that can be found directly on the case. Maybe that's why you're getting 12v on it.

is this model different than the 629GL-70NP ?? looking at the specs i noticed that the contrast ratio was different unless i read wrong, im new to the carputer world and still learning and a friend recommended the 629GL-70NP since it is LED back lit and it has a 500:1 contrast ratio
so are these 2 models different in anyway else beside the contrast ratio ??
thanks

Measurements??
Does anyone have the measurements for the 629GL-70NP LED Backlight unit
Whole housing and LCD panel itself. Looking to make a custom bezel.
Just finding conflicting measurements all around.
Inches or MM is fine. Thanks for all your help.

My hidden menus look the same as NotYou's.
There's "POWER STATE" option which can be changed from 0 to 1 or 2. Setting it to 1 or 2 doesn't seem to activate the Auto Power On.
??? How to deal with Auto-On?

To get into the service menu, make sure that your on any active input and enter "588998" on the remote (nothing different). You can use the remote to navigate and change menu options as well (some people said before they had to use the buttons). However, I have a total of four service menus....
Menu 1 (appears right after entering code)
Menu 2 (press menu button while viewing menu 1)
Menu 3 (press menu button while viewing menu 2)
Menu 4 (press menu button while viewing menu 3)
All of the above show the default options.

Has the EBY701 changed? All 3 of my other EBYs have the CCFL in it. I just bought a 4th one that has the LED, but was wondering if they added anything to the menu?
