confirmed features of 2008 lilliputs!
I just received the last in stock 2008 lilliput (model 629GL-70NP/C/T) and after entering the menu code of 588998 i'm subjected to a new "hidden" menu display. The display has like 3 pages of hidden options. Most i didnt touch but the two i was interested in were the auto-on and the auto-switch... BOTH of which are available options i have confirmed working. That on top of the fact they're using LEDs for a brighter display make this model lilli tough to beat. Cant wait to get it installed in the car.

Last night I was able to get the auto-on working also, but what does the auto-switch do?

auto-switch switches to video 2 whenever the device on video 2 is powered. So if you have say a camera hooked to video two and power it while the car is in reverse, the lilli will automatically switched to that input.

havent got the chance to test it i just started rebuilding my bezel.. but i cant say the brightness setting is different.. instead of just "lightening" up the colors it actually controls the brightness of the leds.. 100% brightness now completely washing out the colors... before 100% brightness was pretty much a neccessity

Thanks,
Also interested in sunlight readability like everyone else compared to the equivalent 2008 Xenarc 700TSV?
A few others for comment if you have a spare moment;
- I keep reading lilliput's have problems with 800x480 resolution, is this still the case?
- Type of mount, is VESA option avaliable?
- Is Power, USB, RCA and VGA cables etc combined?
Regards,
DEM_968.

in my brief testing i didnt see a 800x480 option using my nvidia mx4400 card. I have no idea what VESA is, but its the same mount that has come with the lilly's since teh beginning of time. The power wire is seperate from the video wire. All other wires hook up to a clamped wire to insure they're properly installed and usb as always is at the computer end of the VGA cable

ok i got it in the car and WOW i immediately noticed the new screen's brightness! Its infinitely brighter than my old 8" lilli which according to other carputer enthusiasts said was noticably brighter than the standard 7". The images are clearer and brigther, even the bios image looked nicer! i didnt get a chance to take sunlight pics but i will say its an noticble improvement over my 8" lilli, the screen isnt completely washed out and u can tell something was done to improve the touchscreen. i'll get some pics out asap.

Thanks,
Look forward to seeing some comparison pictures, particularly in sunlight if possible and your comments?

I dont suppose the 2008 EBY701 has this option also (auto switching)? Reason I ask is because I ordered all of my Lilliputs off of ebay. They say they are the 2008 models, but i know mine are not LED......does that really matter... Im going to have to go home and try this out.... which option is the auto switching?
