HP f50 15" Touchscreen

So i salvaged a 15" touchscreen from a buddy.
Works great.
Didn't come with a powersupply, so right now for testing im running it off a random powerbrick that i cut the end off and placed the ends in the jack. powers up, runs a little bit darker than my CRT, but i can see and read everything.

Question is, right now it is runnign off:

+12v @ 1.25A

The rating on the specs for amperage is a little higher.

Ok, now the real question.

Im going to be using this as the touchscreen for my carpc.

How should i power this, as to not damage it?

I've seen some people talk about powering it off the psu of the computer, although im going to be using an m1-atx powersupply to run the computer. and im curious if that powersupply will be enough to run my computer AND the monitor.

Anyways, thanks in advance!

Your power brick might be current limited to 1.25A which is enough to power the monitor, but may be why it's dark. There may not be enough current for the back light. If allowed the full amount of current, it may get brighter. Anyways, if it's rated at something like 1.5A, then you'll be pulling about 18Watts from the power supply, which may be too much, but then again maybe not. It depends on what kind of hardware you'll be powering. You should definitely power it with a regulated 12V supply though.

So the M3-ATX should do it? what im looking at right now, is a 900mhz amd, with about 512mb ram, and a 40gb harddrive. MAYBE a cdrom.

The m3-ATX is rated for 125W, the other computer im thinkign about using is an old powermac g4. its powersupply is rated for 126W max.

Only problem would be keeping the thing cool.

Plus its large and clunky.

I'd at least look into the M2-ATX to be safe, as it's rated for 160W. Or even the M4-ATX. It's 250W.
