I took a few minutes to carefully look over the ebay link that you provided.

From what I can see, this unit is about identical to the Lilli629 that I use in my car.

Same wattage, dimensions, accessories...except that I paid $245 from mp3car strore in early November '07.

I like mine a lot, but my lack of experience didn't prepare me for the fact that the touchscreen overlay is filmy and definitely reduces the quality of screen images. I'm older, and I would prefer clarity...

Yeah, that funky adapter fitting for vga/other inputs is the same as mine. Works ok and not too unwieldy. See my pics; I have goosenect mount, so those extra unused inputs are cable tied, but still visable. Can't bring myself to cut 'em off, as other inputs COULD be used some day.

I found this in the LCD / Display forum:
http://www.gooddeals18.com/product/SHK1040

Check the LCD / Display forum for that one; a lot of responses 'cause it sounds pretty hot. Even if I install my current Lilli in the dbl DIN spot in my dash, I may buy one of those 12" monitors. I like to be able to see and enjoy what's on my screen...

I have only been using my Lilli as a basic screen; never set up the touchscreen part, but I plan to plug USB from my Lilli into front-seat USB hub, then load Lilli touch app - probably tomorrow. I have been using the front end, Street Deck that I bought from mp3car store - and I'm ready to use it in touch mode...

Happy carpc'ing!

That's an eby 701. Search the forums as there are many reviews and comments on it.

It's very popular due to it's bargain basement price.

I have one and it's taken alot of abuse, still works fine.............

VGA connector has never been a problem other than my not having the barrel connection tight enough one time.

The model shown is the older eby 701. The newer one is brighter.

Oh, the gooseneck mount has a tab that slides into the notch on the rear of the Lilli, then can be hand tightened - easy.

I had to put the tab on the gooseneck on my grinding wheel a little bit as it was oversized for Lilli notch - no trouble.

Why is the newer brighter? LED Backlight? Any ideas?

It is exactly the same as mine.

The box too. When i first received it, after looking on the box, i thought the shop must of gotten the order wrong.

The connections it uses are fine.

Not to sure about much more then that though as i haven't put it in my car as of yet.

I have used this screen for 2 years now. Only thing is I blew up my 800x600 resolution support, and I am not sure how. I am on my second touch overlay. Both things my fault. I have opened the thing up down to the bare LCD panel (not just circuit and LCD block, but I mean taking it apart to the see through glass panel, backlight and so forth, a few times, and put it back together and it works. I dropped a textbook (3 inch thick textbook) right on the LCD and cracked the upper corner, but the pixels all still work except for directly under the crack (didnt leak out everywhere)...

So yeah. I have used and abused this thing and I would buy it again. It was $200 including shipping and customs from Hong Kong when I ordered it 2 years ago.

Yes they upgraded the LED backlight. I also notice the units run hotter, I know it cant be a defect because they both do it. I have to assume its the LEDs. Im thinking of adding a small fan to each unit, well at least to the unit thats working, I have to send the second screen back because of a dead pixel that is annoying me.

If it's running hotter, then it's not the led's.

Led's don't generate heat (not a significant amount anyways)................

the EBY701 uses a CCFL backlight... not LEDs

That depends on the LED... super-brights LEDs get too hot to touch... Luxeon LEDs get so hot they require heat sinks

Are We talking about the new 2008 EBY701? If it's not LED Backlit than what makes it brighter?
