LCD tv in truck?

Hey guys I was wondering if there was anyone in here that has used the LCD from a regular LCD tv, like a 15-17" in their CarPC install. I am basically wondering how feasible it would be to buy a regular widescreen 15.4" and just take the LCD out of its casing and then make a custom enclosure separately that would have all your input connections. Then you would be able to use just the LCD monitor without having space constraints from the case. Does this sound like it would work?

Should work fine if you can power it. But it won't be touchscreen.

Well I was actually going to get an overlay from somewhere to make it a touch screen. How would that work? It would still be cheaper than any 15.4" touchscreen out there. Also, I have a 2000 Silverado and I was wondering what most of you guys that have these trucks and are re-locating the A/C controls do with them? Especially in a single cab I don't have much room. I was thinking about putting it in place of the middle vent, the a/c controls and the passenger airbag control. Any input on this?

Adding touch screen is simple. Buy a touch screen kit.... It consists of the panel, board (with usb port) and I think maybe a few more things. Go on ebay and check one out. You should be able to use a 15 inch screen, if it is VGA or DVI. Anything else will look cr@ppy. Remember mobile screens are made to be light weight and able to with stand the car enviroment, im not sure a regualar LCD can do that (screen wise, yes, but certain components may not hold up so well). Also you dont 100% need touchscreen, you couls always use a 3in1 presenter...... like one of these http://cgi.ebay.com/3in1-Wireless-La...QQcmdZViewItem
