Hello all,

Before I get started I want to thank anyone who gives me a hand with this!

Hardware:
Lilliput 7" TouchScreen (older model, bought about a year ago) plugged in via VGA to a laptop.

The problem started a while back; I would be driving, and if I would hit a large enough bump, the screen would loose power, turn off and then turn back on.

After taking the screen out of the dash I noticed that the back of the screen had fallen off. (It was holding by the ribbon cable, the power cable and the touchscreen cable, the screen was still working at this point).

I looked at everything carefully and everything seemed alright so I put it back together and fastened it back into place. When I brought it in the car, a pure white screen appeared (backlight with no image is what it looked like). I brought it back inside, and refasted the large ribbon cable.

Now when I turn on the screen in my car, the screen starts off black, looks like it is about to turn on with the computer normally, but, suddenly some white streaks starts from the bottom left corner and grow until the entire screen is white..

This happens every time I turn on the screen.. The ribbon cable seems to be fastened fine and I cannot seem to see any real problems, the ribbon cable looks fine, except for maybe the ribbon cable fastener which may be KIND of loose but still seems like its properly fitted.

I have provided a few pictures of the problem, as well as pictures of the PCB..

If anyone could point me in a direction that could lead me to a solution I would be very grateful !

That's a familiar sight, I have about three that do that.

It is either a dodgy connector, dodgy cable or the main board has been fried.

I am in the process of trying a different monitors main board with the LCDs I have (as the other monitor uses the same LCD), just waiting on a couple of cables and then I can check out the screens at least.

Looks familiar. I had a messed up ribbon cable. Check the ends of the ribbon cable with a magnifying glass and see if the traces are "bent" or damaged since it was hanging off the cable.

The ribbon cable seems fine, I cant see anything wrong with the actual cable..

The "ribbon cable fastener" is a little loose though, could that be the cause? If so, any ideas on how to test this?

Loose?

As in:

The ribbon cable can move around once the connector is closed?

If so, it's a likely culprit. If the ribbon cable end traces don't line up with the connectors, well..................

Also, check the "barrel" connector in the vga/usb line if you have one on your model. Mine was loose once and caused a white screen condition.

One other thing to check is some people have found thier lilli's have a bit too much room in the connector for the ribbon cable. This allows the ribbon to come out of alignment with the terminals in the connector. Most have gotten around this by holding the cable against one end of the connector or the other (depending on your model) to keep the parts in alignment as the connector is fastened.

Not sure what else to tell you bro...............
