lcd discoloration

this happens to me quite a bit..especially if i hit a few bumps or whatever..my lcd screens colors change to a magenta-ish color, like if you would go to your computer and start wiggling the vga cable how it changes colors. after that happens, i would have to either hit my glove box, or open it and move the pc a bit to get the color back to work. at first..i was okay with it...but now its starting to bug me. i made sure all the connections were as tight as possible. so does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it so it doesnt happen? so that the color always stays perfect? thanks!

so it fixes up when you move the computer? Are you sure your vga cable isn't broken, replace it maybe?

I think you've really answered your own question here when you say moving the computer fixes the problem.

That behaviour seems to indicate you've got a loose or poor connection somewhere.

You're just going to have to chase it down. It can be a real PITA, but there's no other way............

well..im sure i tightened everything as much as i could. but thats the thing..its a hassle if i have to keep opening up my glove box and moving it a bit..or smacking my glove box just so the colors correct. is there any way to make it so it somehow..doesnt jiggle? my vga cable is good, because its new.

Notice I said "poor" connection too.

It sould be as simple as your vga pins don't make good contact. A new cable that doesn't make good contact is still a poor connection.

Do you have another cable you can use to troubleshoot the problem?

If so, slave it in and see.

Are you using on board video or and agp card? If using a card, make sure it can't move around and loose contact.

Just some things to consider...........

What kind of monitor and how old is it? The connection from the monitor itself is it a standard VGA connector or a barrel plug?

for my monitor..i have a liliput 629gl, so yea..it has the barrel plug connecting to a vga which connects to my dvi onboard video card on my aopen pc. it connects via a dvi to vga converter. if it has a poor connection, would that solve it? just get a new converter? ill try it i guess..hopefully that does something

I have a barrel connector. Two things to look for, one is the ribbon cable that connects the LCD Panel to the board. Second is the barrel connector, make sure it is tight.. very tight. move the barrel connector around see if you can get it to get back to full RGB.

Mine is a very nice shade of yellow right now as I loosen the connector in winter as driving at night the screen is too bright.

If you decide to play with ribbon cables be VERY careful, search the boards if you do, you will probably have to replace it.

Move the barrel connector around first and check the VGA connector off the barrel as well.
