According to the guy that makes the WRX housing (made for the 619), the panels themselves are the same size, but the circuit board is a different shape/size. Also as tigergibb mentions, the buttons are different.
If your modded 619 can take those differences into account (e.g. the button area has been cut off, you can remove/rework the back, etc..) then you can probably get it to work.
Never tried though and haven't worked with a 629, so that's just guess work on my part.

the new 629 is different from the 619, older units had same exact LCD. The 2008 629 has same width, slightly less tall, thinner overall. The bezel opening is dramatically different, no longer symmetrical, offset both ways. You need to cheat it to the left and up some.
It will fit, but not ideal.
I have a new bezel in prototype stage right now. I can post pictures this weekend if anyone is interested. The first production units should be ready in 2-3 weeks.

I'm also interested in this new bezel as I have been reading the new 2008 629 with the backlit LED is much better than the 619 and the old 629. Any idea when it will be ready? Can you post up some pics?
