Picking a monitor

Hi,
I'm going to purchase an LCD for my carputer project. I'm looking for a 7" widescreen monitor. My budget is around 150-200 USD.

I found these on ebay. It would really help if people can point out if one of these is not recommended (for example, known to be problematic). Thanks!

Thanks!

the first one:

Tammy 2918...........I think thats a seller some people on the forum have had experience with. If I recall, they were mostly all good experiences. Do a search for more info.

Other than that, seems ok. Nothing special though. The return policies seem to be a littel stringent (20% restocking fee) which may indicate you might have problems with a return. Maybe, maybe not. Ebay is kind of a crap shoot sometimes.
And just remember:
you get what you pay for........

the second one:

EBY701, lots of people here use them. I have one. I have found mine to be very durable, but others have had issues with dead pixels lately.

The third one:

I wouldn't. It says it only supports 640x480. Not a very useful resolution in my estimation. It'll work, you'll have to define that resolution in RR (if you use it) but quite a few programs don't fit into a 640x480 screen these days. Brightness is a little lower than most also. And it doesn't even list the veiwing angles......

Thanks,
I was thinking a lot about this lately and I think I'm going to spend a little more on a better monitor. What do you think about this one?

Is it worth the extra?

So I came down to two monitors:
EBY701-NP/C/T: http://www.lilliput.com.cn/eng/conte...cts.asp?ID=239
629GL-70NP/C: http://www.lilliput.com.cn/eng/conte...cts.asp?ID=164

I don't really understand the difference between the two. The 629GL seems to be more expensive than the EBY701, yet doesn't seem to be any better in specs. Actually the brightness of the 629GL is 350cd/m2 while the EBY701 is 400cd/m2. Doesn't that mean that the EBY701 is better?

Can anyone please tell me if the 629GL is worth an extra 80$? What does it have that the EBY701 doesn't?

Thanks!

the new (2008) 629 is reported to be LED backlit. Less heat, more lumens. Not sure why the list it lower than the eby. Eby's are ccfl backlit.

Early reports say the 2008 629 uses a new lcd panel that is clearer/sharper/brighter and a better tochscreen.

bu tyou'll have to search on that to be sure.

They both have a fairly low CR though. CR is just as inportant (if not more) than brightness.
