lilliput out of wack (range)
I was trying to adjust my brightness on my eby701, like everyone else. and accidentally hit the auto refresh button. and now its displaying out of range.
it only displays this after the xp loading screen.
thing I don't get is that I've hit that button many times before, and never had this problem. I've had my setup going since november.

can't edit from my fone
I have never changed anything as far as resolutions, refresh rates, and whatever else you can play with.
would going into safe mode allow me to go through setting on the screen and change it all?

you need to hook up a crt monitor to change the settings. Safe mode won't work (I tried). When my eby packed it in, I lost 800x600 altogether. I set my driver to 808x480 and it worked, although the monitor says it's 640x480.
The auto adjust blows out a chip on the eby sometimes. Do a search, it's been discussed several times.
Just one of the costs of going with the "cheap" (IE:inexpensive) eby.

nope.
your 800x600 is gone. Forever. No way to fix it without getting a new monitor or replacing a chip on the lilliput (which you cant barely get a hold of anyways)
But you should be able to use VGA mode instead of Safe Mode. VGA mode is 640x480 4bit colour I believe with XP. Same menu as boot from Safe Mode. But you cant really do anything in there but use it temporarily while you either buy a new monitor or wait for an available CRT.

crap. guess im going to hafta wait for that double din vga moniter to come out. sounds like my cheap solution is pretty much boned.
i say this because i dont have an external moniter to hook up to change settings with. nor can i get easy access to my plug. look at my sig for how my setup it. its going to take me quite a bit of time just to get to that plug. and im my ghetto apt complex, i dont need to be showing off what all i have in my truck.

Just go to a buddies house, borrow their monitor (the flatscreen lcd's should work also), plug it into the puter VGA port, and reset the res to 800x480 (or whatever closest).
Set your size in RR and your skin and you're good to go.
Oh yeah, just 'cause 800x600 is gone right now doesn't mean it's gone forever. It happened to mine a couple times before it had a total fit and burned out.
Check it out.
Cheers

i got my old monitor from my brother. i had to hack off his hack job of putting a new connector on the end and got a vga male male cable i "barrowed" from work and hacked one end off. just need to connect the two. then i have a working monitor again.
i know i can do that in RR, but what about when i want to use windows on the whole setup? i of course only use wordpad and firefox.
when i hooked the 701 to my laptop, it still wouldnt display 800x600. is it going to have any problems displaying anything lower than that? how would it come back? chips cant heal them selves. theyre not the potatoe kind or are they a transformer kind. ok, i think im blabbing on now haha. ADH.....oo! a squirell!

well im going to yank on supermans cape and buy another eby701 since my setup is already made for one. all i will need to do is take the face place off the new one and put the entire new assy in place of the old one. then i can tweak around on the busted one and see what works. and try my hardest not to hit that damn auto adjust button.
i just came across a post where a poster said he reset his eby by hooking it up to a laptop. id like to figure this out and save me aboot 200 bux.

Yeah.........ah................whatever that last bit was about.
The video driver needs to be set to 800x480, which is the native resolution of the monitor. Mine is set up the same way, no display issues.............

See the other thread for more info...........
edit, ah heck, I'll just quote it here:

You can't.
The setting is in the video driver of the computer. The monitor only displays what it is given by the driver. If it's a resolution the monitor can't interpret, it shows "out of range".
You need to hook up the computer to another monitor and change the driver settings, not the screen. There is an offhand chance you can get into the menu of the screen and reset to 800x600 if you can get the screen to disply anything besides "out of range" by using different setting in the video driver. You have to find one that the monitor can recognize first so it doesn't display "out of range" and prevent you from entering the OSD. 640x480 should work so you can get into monitor's settings menu.
The eby701 has a nasty habit of burning out it's 800x600 setting for some reason when you hit auto adjust, 800x600 may be gone forever.......
Also, please stop asking the same question in multiple threads........
