Wink Recommendations for double din LCD

I've been in and out of the car PC builds, and getting a new car this week (2008 Altima 3.5 with Premium package). They want $1500 for a factory nav system at invoice that to me looks like crap, and my 2004 system looked BETTER then it ever did with an older lilliput with IGuidance.

I eventually had to rip out my lilliput due to problems with the in line connector and the sometimes cold maryland weather played havok on it. Its fate rested with me taking it apart, and never putting it back together and its all resting in a box with all its parts.

Considering I already have a intel mac mini to use as a unit, I'm looking for the BEST double din sized monitor with VGA under $1k that is near or above sun-light readable.

I will be getting 20% tint, and the nav I have seen on the stock is S-video quality nav, not computer VGA...so that out. To give you an idea:

I don't want to fart around with cheap LCDs and don't have the time or space to do so. Life is quite more busy since then along with money being on tight demand, but miss the old wardriving, playing my music, and turn by turn directions. Thus instead of buying the factory nav, I can justify the same amount of $$ for my own nav. Nor do i have a problem paying a professional to install the power wires and LCD where I lack the time and/or skill.

I've looked around the forums and online, and nothing is really conclusive. Looking for your suggestions with the positive and negatives.
