screen static

hey I have my screen power and ground taped from my cigarette lighter, when the engine is running I have a good amount of static in the screen but when the car isnt running the screen is perfect. I'm guessing that means I have a bad ground somewhere or that I have about 6 more things running of the same source? Is there somewhere better I can tap the power from to not have the static? Or is this problem compleatly irrelavent to the power and ground? Thanks for the help!
