XGA upgrade to WXGA

Hi

i want to connect old laptop without screen with WXGA+ 1440x900 LCD

laptop is amilo 7830 , and factory it was equipmened with 15" 1024x768 XGA 30 pin LCD. New LCD also has 30 pin.

unfortunately motherboard plugs are dissimillar

WXGA+ LCD display cable plug (40 pin long)

and amilo motherboard has shorter 30 pin joint

did you hear about some converters or maybe displaycable with 30 pin motherboard joint designed for WXGA+

It depends on the type of the two LCD panels.
Seek the datasheet and match the appropriate pairs on each side. Just wiring. Be careful about the voltage (5V vs. 3.3V - I think both are 3.3).
The WXGA means longer CCFL also. It means slightly decreased backlight.
If even the driving methods (I think it must be lvds, but how many channels - usually three + clock) are equal, you have to face the problem of different resolution. You also have to modify the BIOS for this resolution and this is not easy at all.
If you are satisfied by a working windows, it is possible to set the resolution (if the driver of the video card supports) to the WXGA.

Unfortunately not. Try Google 'LCD-type datasheet or pinout'
But you can also identify at least the number of LVDS pairs:
on the panel there are visible pairs, the resistance between them is about 100 Ohms.
There is another (additional) connector leading to the backlight panel? Or this is theonly one?

It is important to you, because it have to match. DDC pair is not TOO important. That pair provides info about the monitor.
I meant other connector as backlight panel connector. Of course, this LCD panel has only one bunch of cables.
Good luck for the conversion.
