which way up do touch panels go?

hi all, i took my cartft screen apart but have managed to forget which way up the resistive panel goes.

I have a sandwich which looks like a layer of polycarbonate and then an electrical layer - resistive panel i guess?

Intuition would tell me the resistive layer would face the viewer, is this the case? Next time I should take pictures before i take anything apart (whoops!)

can anyone help me?
