Xenarc 700 IDT, touchscreen function shuts down

New problem : At times when using my Xenarc 700 IDT, the touchscreen function stops working. The display looks fine, just no response from touching the screen.

Tried rebooting, tried disconnecting the usb plug, tried turning the monitor off then on, no good, stays inoperable. Its wired correctly, and grounded correctly. Its powered off a power tap off a drive cable through the M3 atx controller and is getting plenty of power.

When I check the Touchkit app via the icon in the system tray (when Im having the problem ) it says 2 screens 0 touchdevices. Windows doesnt see it when i disconnect it or plug it back in, and the add button in the touchkit app does nothing. Hardware manager doesnt see it on rescan. All the other things on USB are still there and working (keyboard/GPS).

Usualy the next day its working again when I start the car/pc.

Today for the first time, it stopped working (I just left everything on and kept driving ) and about a half hour later, it started working again ? (when the last few times it happened nothing I did made it come back, it stayed inopperable until the next day)

Could it be heat related? The screen gets pretty hot (even when its cool out).

Anyone have this type of problem with theirs?

Hmmm, another outstanding response.
I must be very unlucky, three posts about three seperate problems and no responses, guess Im blessed with the only system that has these problems.

Sorry I don't have a more definitive answer, but I can at least say - yes, heat can cause this, but so can loose connections. I'd recommend leaving the back off of your lcd for a day or two. This will both allow it to run cooler and allow you to reach back there and poke at the connections when/if the problem occurs. Just stay away from the backlight inverter's transformer, capacitors, and wires. They pack a nasty sting on the order of tens of thousands of volts.

LOL believe it or not, that would not be the dumbest thing I have been known to do.

But yup, thinking it may just be heat. That screen (well the back anyway) gets really hot. And I do notice now that if I wait a while, it often starts working again.
Ive had so much aggrevation with this system that I leave a keyboard connected at all times anyway.
When it works, it works great, everything works fine together.
Just annoying that half the time when starting the car I have to get out and unplug the video and wait for the monitor to shut off then reconnect it to get the display to work at all. Then some time later (not that often, but often enough to be a pain) the TS stops working.

Well at least I kknow its not only me, because I would have had to decide soon if I wanted to return the display if I thought it was defective.

Thanks for the input.

Happened to me.

In mine it was just the vga cable that was causing it.

It need to be tight.

Since i modded the case (all conections are inside the case , giving me more space at the back) and made a secure and tight conection, touchscreen as been working great.
