Pointer stuck in bottom left corner of touchscreen

I just got my screen back from Motor City Tech with a new touchscreen on it, but I can't get it to work right. I've tried reinstalling software and drivers as well as calibrating multiple times and the pointer just always goes to the bottom left corner of my screen, no matter where I touch the screen. There is no bezel or mounting on it, so I don't think it's that. I guess the possibilities that I can think of are: ribbon shorting (?), cable inserted wrong (however, I don't think it's physically possible to turn it around and put it in the other way) and bad controller.

Is this a fair assessment?

I tried working with it on a different PC with the same result. Perhaps there is something I'm missing here, but it looks like the only resolution I have is that the touch screen or controller are broken.

that issue is often caused by something physically 'pressing' the screen in that corner. normally I would have suggested that you remove the screen from the enclosure but you said there is "no bezel or mounting" on it, so it would appear that you have already done that. the touchpanel is normally attached to the screen using clear tape. the tape should only be on the very outer edge of the touchpanel; if they used too much tape, or taped over the corner (instead of taping the egde) then that could possibly put pressure on the screen corner. if you press hard on the touchpanel and move your finger around while applying 'more-than-normal' pressure can you get the pointer to move at all (at least temporarily)?

you never said what monitor you're using; if it's a standard 4-wire resistive model, the touchpanel connector can be plugged in either way (correct position is calibrated via software). if the touchpanel is bad then reversing the connector will result in the pointer getting stuck in the opposite corner (top right corner in your case). if you reverse the connector and the pointer still gets stuck in the bottom left corner then something else is causing the issue (not the touchpanel itself).

good luck

I believe it is a 4 wire model, it's a NEC or something from Motor City Tech. Reversing the connector does indeed move the pointer to the opposite corner, so it sounds like it's bad.

Thanks for your tips!
