That Ebay screen is not the same. The 629 has an LED backlight and that ebay one doesn't, that is why it's cheaper.

The new 629, as shown on that site, is really nice and bright. All un-modified screens will have glare, but the new 629s have much less.

A little birdie has informed me that that site will be coming out with a Transflective 629 in a week that matches the quality of MP3s, but at a cheaper price.

To wjc04wrx:
What is used for the backlight then?

Cold cathodes, or something quite similar. Like, long neon tubes.

All LCD's have a backlight. Just one of these has LED's and the other has the ccfl.

The LED backlight on the new 629 screens are definitely brighter. I have compared this screen next to my laptop and it's brighter then it.

These screens are easier to view in the sun, brighter, and don't glare as much. That is why they have a higher cost.
