I plan on using the DFX 4.0 skin (RR skin) - and you can adjust the brightness directly through the skin.

Dan, I am shattered for you! Think on the bright side, it'll be easier second time round! enjoy the holiday. If you are lke me it will be hard to get back into it when you get back. I just want to finish it now. Have not done anything about buttons. Will be waiting for the cable to arrive.
Had a problem today. No green channel on startup this morning. Saw green still there on the monitor menu, so did a factory reset, fixed the colour, Now the 800x600 output won't scale properly. It scaled it to be a square picture. So I am going to try to get the monitor into 800x480 mode tonight based on the link on the Xenarc web site..
Not sure if the skin contorls for brightnes will be enough. The RR gamma (day/Night) is definitely not a big enough step to make any difference

I must be an idiot. Resetting to factory defaults changed one setting. I only found 2 settings this morning in the heat of the moment but tonight there is 3 settings. so change the monitor scaling to "fit all" fixed all!

Hi.
Interesting thread, as I am in the process of buying a display.
You wrote:

Does this mean, that even though it is dimmable, it is still too strong?

Hey Rod,
Were there any issues configuring the Touchscreen when you did the installation?
I'm having some issues with mine, it does not seem to respond anytime I touch the screen.

Dan, I had no problems with the touch screen at all. Posted some info on my buildup yesterday about this. Maybe you could try using devcon to delete all USB drivers and try again.
Nia, sorry I missed your post. Depends where the monitor is fitted. High in the dash, you might find it bright at night, but was still OK for me as the I had the PC configured to shut the monitor off after a few mins. There are a few settings including a custom one that are just a button click so you could probably save a custom night time setting and screw brightness and contrast etc right down.

That's OK
This is a button press on the actual display I assume?
My display will be very high on the dash, but mounted close to vertical like the original nav on the pic. below.
So I'm not sure I need the full transflective version.

Considering one of the 5-600nits versions of Xenarc/LilliPut/LinITX at a more reasonable price. Factoring in shipping, customs, taxes and fees, it's not small amounts

I think the issue might be with something pinching the touchscreen overlay. I'm going to take it out of the case and do some testing with it to see if I get a different result.

This is the best monitor I’ve ever owned, i will never buy another transflective Lilliput due to price and build quality. I just wish I could get the transflective enhancement on the 706tsa because it does make a big difference.
Xenarc is selling the 706tsa for $399, i just bought another one.

Nia, Yes, there is a settings button that cycles through the options on the remote and I think the display as well. I don't think you need to go any brighter than this monitor. In full sunlight, just push the brightness up. There is an auto brightness setting, but I did not really like it as it flickers up and down in fiiltered sunlight. My screen is in a similar position. see here:

Sorry it was dark, but the clock above the monitor is right at tthe top of the dash. You can just see the line that marks the top of the dash.
Kalt, glad you like it and even more pleased the price has come down as I might need to buy another given the fault I am experiencing that I have described in my worklog (see my sig for a link). Not sure if it is a fault yet, have not had time to look at it.

Rod,
Are you using RR?
I don't seem to have the ilist functionality working when I use my Touchscreen - but when I was doing the setup with keyboard and mouse I could see the ilist functionality working.
If I click and hold with the mouse and flick the mouse I get the scrolling effect, but now when I use the Touchscreen.
ANy ideas?

Yes, using RR with the BVM2 skin but not sure what the ilist feature is so can't comment.

Its the scrolling effect when you touch the screen and flick your finger up or down to scan quickly through your song lists.
