New XENARC 706TSA 7" Touchscreen LCD with DVI! "Coming Soon"

Anyone notice this puppy on xenarc's website recently?!?

http://www.xenarc.com/product/706tsa.html

Interesting external box for hooking up all the extra inputs to.

Seems to have a fairly decent brightness at 650cd/m.

On another note, I currently have the Xenarc 700TSV from 2006/2007 and was considering an upgrade because of sunlight issues. Would the lilliput 629 LED be a better bet than the new xenarc 702TSV LCD?

I'm wondering the same thing. I was looking at the 702tsv, but the DVI input would be nice, as i have a mac mini, and long DVI cable at work (free). Would the 1000nit be THAT much brighter than this?

Why? I can see how it would help me, as I won't have anything behind the screen except this box. I guess if you were installing your computer in dash, this is just something else taking up room.

it would make sense if you have you car pc in your trunk that way you only need one cable. at the same time, the cable is pretty short..

I've got one of these puppies. Have not got it in the car yet. Plenty bright enough. Ordered because there was stock available for this one (650 NIT) and none of the 1000 NIT ones. Seems very well made.

The only problem I noticed is that the retaining nuts (with female thread) for the monitor cable on the controller box are the wrong thread size for the cable screws, yet the monitor end is fine. I have to take up with supplier.

With the monitor out of the case, it will fit in a dual DIN dash perfectly but you will have to work out how to relocate the buttons...

Ok Guys, I have ordered some extra bits:
1. 5 metre (about 16 feet) monitor interconnect cable $35
2. 2 x ribbon cables to extend the buttons on the front of the case $21 each.

So The monitor controller box will sit behind my back seat witrh all the rest of the PC stuff: see my worklog here:
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/work...-new-post.html

Hopefully I will be able to exend the button cable with a soldering iron... wish me luck.

I ordered the monitor and the bits above from Richard at http://www.customcarputers.com and received excellent service as his international freight was cheaper than Xernac Direct and I could get some other bits and pieces in the one order.

Can you post a link to those ribbon cables you ordered? Are these for extending the IR sensor?

I can't seem to find them on the site.

No, you'll have to email Richard Mulder at customcarcomputers. Use the site email contacts and He'll get back to you.

My cable extension turned up today. Yes, I am hoping to join 2 ribbons together and extend it enough to relocate the buttons. I think the soldering will be difficult, but I got an expert lined up for that part of the job now.

Thanks.

One more thing, have you set up your bench test environment yet? I've cut down my housing to size but I havent yet cut the Cigarette lighter adapter to tap into my workbench power supply.

How do you identify the Power and Ground wire on the Cigarette lighter adapter once you cut the wires? They both look the same, there is not stripe on one. Just curious.
