EBY-701 button board

Does anyone know where I may be able to get a replacement button board for the EBY-701? I checked digitalww and the mp3car store, neither has it.

Any chance a 619 or 629 board will work?

Thanks!

No one knows? I really need a new button board as I fried my IR sensor section of the board and need to have the IR sensor working. Thanks.

Man, you don't need a new board if you just fried this sensor.

For the record, its next to impossible to fry an IR detector unless you've been modding it and ran it out of specs, but typically they shouldn't die.

What makes you think its the IR sensor?

No, I didn't fry the IR sensor itself... I destroyed the board using a soldering tip that was too big. I actually disconnected the leads in the board. Perhaps some pictures will help:

Wow, that's dirty.

First off, I don't know where you can get one of these button boards.

With that said, I'd suggest that you hack it up a bit more, what do you have to lose? Buy a smaller tip ANYWHERE and it'll cost you less than the shipping cost of a new board. Then use a knife and cut the traces, etc etc etc. All IR sensors are the same, VCC IR GND (no particular order) so if you can find a vcc point you should be okay...

Why spend the money?

Yeah, just use a knife and scrape the green stuff off till you see a nice copper spot to solder to for each point. The ground plane above it, the trace on the side, and maybe the 3rd is on top? Just use some solid wire like a resistor lead or glue it down well because if it pulls it will rip the traces off the board.

I threw my eby701 out the other day, otherwise you could of had it with the extended IR port already

why would you 'throw out' an EBY701 (or any monitor)??

it is worth money even if it doesn't work...
