7" Lilliput help

Ive done searches and cant find exactly what I need.

Last night I pulled my Lilliput apart to disconnect the touchscreen since I wont be using that anyways and I heard it makes the picture alot clearer without it.

But, the small ribbon cable that goes from the mainboard to the main screen came out and the little plastic lever things broke. I geuss they where old or something. Anyways, I can not get this cable back in. Its about 1" wide and 4" long. It has a blue on both ends on the same side. The other side is all white with no blue tabs at the ends. I dont know which way it should go in and I cant get the ends into the little slots where they are suppose to go.

Any suggestions in putting it back in?

The little levers slide out to hold the cable in place. If you are removing your touchscreen, can't you just leave the cable disconnected?

thanks for the reply

I can leave the cable disconnected for the touchscreen, but this is the cable that goes from the mainboard to the lcd screen itself. Without it no image will apear on the monitor. I just tried to put the cable back in and tape it in place and its just a white screen. I think its done for. I tried the cable in two different ways and neither worked.

you didn't state what specific model monitor you have, but if it's like the EBY-701; the tabs (that you may be referring to as "levers") are basically little handles for a plastic 'wedge' that slides under the ribbon cable to secure it.

the connector's electrical contacts are on the top (facing down, towards the board). the ribbon cable's electrical contacts are on the white side. obviously the connector's contacts need to touch the cable's connectors (the blue side should face down, towards the board). when the 'wedge' is pushed into the connector, it pushes the ribbon cable up against the top of the connector (this makes a solid electrical connection and secures the ribbon cable).

to re-insert the cable; make sure the 'wedge' is pulled out (it should only slide out about 1/8"), then insert the cable into the connector and slide the 'wedge' back in.

--the electrical contacts will not make a good connection unless the ribbon cable is pressed up against the top (inside) of the connector. if the wedge simply broke free of the connector, then you should be able to push it back in. if the 'wedge' broke into multiple pieces then you can try to manually push the pieces under the cable, or use something else to wedge the cable.

good luck

do what FusionFanatic suggested. I had the same issue. Those little white clips are somewhat fragile and if you're not careful enough they snap out really easy and then the small piece on the end that holds the clip in place is also very easy to sheer off when putting the clips back onto the connector.

What I did was insert the cable, put the connectors back in place like they were originally. Then hotglue the crap outta the thing with high temp glue.

Did you check out my other posting? same same? I just want to make sure i'm not screwing it up.

The other issue is the 702 is not the same form factor as the 700, so I am having to move the baord to the side so it will go against the case I am installing it too..... hmmm...
