so i was redoing my screen for my bezel and i accidently yanked the ribbon cable in the back, i believe i broke the connector on the lcd screen part of the board. when i hooked it back up the screen was upside down and reversed, so i messed with the cable and it went right side up again but with a red-ish tint.. i tried all i hook and couldnt get it to go back to normal, the ribbon cable looks fine.. im assuming i ruined the screen now?

I suspect it is still most likely the ribbon cable that is giving you trouble, or the connector itself.

I don't know what LCD module you have, but I have a 629 with an AT070TN84 LCD module. For this model, the last two pins on the ribbon cable (pins 39 and 40) control the scanning direction. Basically, if these pins are not making contact, your image could be flipped horizontally, vertically, or both. Also, the red data inputs are pins 29-35, which is also close to this end of the cable. If the module reads a "0" on these data lines, it doesn't block any light. This means that if one or more of these "red" data pins are not making contact, it will not block as much light as it should for all of the red pixels, giving the entire screen a reddish tint.

It would be easier to troubleshoot if you had an oscilloscope, but you can try pressing on this area of the ribbon connector with your finger while the screen is on and see if the problem goes away. Just be careful not to touch anything else.

yea i practically ripped the connector off on the lcd screen part. i tried pushing down on it but with no result.

hmm.. ripped it completely off? Can you get a picture of it?

If I am imagining this correctly, the connector was pulled off, along with the pads of the PCB, and maybe even parts of the traces. Maybe one of these traces got torn. If this is the case, it could be an easy fix for someone who knows how to use a soldering iron. Can you see if there are any damaged traces, especially on the left side of the connector?

Do you have a DMM, or know someone who does? The easiest way to figure out what is wrong, is by doing a continuity check. Test each pin and make sure it is connected correctly on both ends of the cable, and make sure that one pin is not shorting to another (this could happen if the ribbon is not aligned right).

not completely ripped off but, i think i broke part of the plastic.

well im an idiot, i bought a new screen and realized one of the wires got knicked that hooks up to the board to power/vga/composite cable, so i have a spare lilliput if someone wants to buy it $200 shipped
