Exclamation HP Laptop LCD Exstension issue

Hey everyone.

Hope someone can shed some light on my issue.

K so i am trying to extend my LCD from my hp laptop.

I went through wire by wire and soldiered and taped/ Shrunk the exposed wires, all went fine till i got to one of the green wires, when extending it on the cable there was no video but when hooked back up video was back, so i tested the second one which was yellow and same issue, these wires are for the image on the LCD, there are about 8 of them i noticed that they are twisted together in pairs. Kinda weird but ok so i tried it and still same issue. i took a multimeter to every wire and there are no shorts and the current is flowing through the wire fine so i tested with other wires with same issue, it seems to be a length issue but i cannot find any reason why it would be a issue, the wires are extended right at the connector.

The inverter is on the lcd as well so that is not the issue either.

Anyone have any ideas????????http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/imag.../deadhorse.gif

So i have done some testing while waiting for feed back from others, all of the cables are the video cables, well majority of them, i spent a few hours playing with different wires and found a blue one that controls the sharpness/ clarity and some pink hue, all in all when its disconnected it does not shut the video off al the way, so i attached a 2 1/2 foot wire to it and it showed there is contact but its really pix-elated and not clean at all, some noise as well so i figured it would be a wire issue so i got a old VGA monitor and sniped the cable for it with the same issue, so i thought OK lets try a different metal, so got some high end copper phone cord and used less with same issue.

To the point, i am only able to extend it roughly 2". on the one blue wire.

I am extending it closest to the connector anyone think that it could be better to go up the line farther ect?

Anyones help would be greatly appreciated as i know allot about computers but we are in a realm that i am in the dark on.

Thanks KB

Hi Kendallb! So, what you are saying is that you can only extend the LCD a maximum of two inches, is this only because of the blue wire having a weak signal?

I'm curious too, if making an extension would work, and came across this page thinking it would be of some interest to you.

Here's more info about extending your laptop's LCD:

Hey, i looked at that thread ( http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/lcd-...cable-faq.html) multiple times and i can honestly say that it is wrong, He states that the only thing you should have a problem with is the power going to it, (Inverter) the inverter is right next to the lcd and the power cords as right now are exstended 3 feet no problem, the issue is all the video wires red blue green yellow ect cannot be extended farther then 1 1/2 inches without distortion or no video, the blue wire is one that is for the clarity of the screen so even disconnected the lcd works but distored, so to sum it up.

1. all wires but the 5-6 wires that are used for the video cannot be extended more than 1-2 inches.

2.All other of the remaining 24 wires are successfully extended to 3 feet no problem.

3. used multiple types of wires, copper, high guage, low guage, Video cableing and still have this issue.

So who can help????????
