Lightbulb Thermaltake 7" Retractable Touchscreen LCD

I saw this touchscreen monitor on the thermaltake site. It seem to be a good monitor and a bit cheaper than the Xenarc's in-dash monitor. The site says it requires a chassis that support 7" drive bay.

Btw its made for computer server chassis but it looks like it would fit on a 1DIN slot on a car or maybe some modification is needed.
Any thoughts on this? Has anyone tried it? If you think its good maybe the mp3car store should carry this item.

Ouch, they are retailing in Australia for $532.00...... for a 300:1 contrast ratio screen???

And the other worry is that they dont specifically state what the panel resolution is, it ACCEPTS 1024x768, but is that the actual panel's resolution or what?

Big on hype, low on details, massively overinflated price....unfortunately the calling card of Thermaltake these days...

Personally I think I would rather get two lilliput screens for the price, and still have enough for a pizza left in change.

Been reading her for years now and saw this post so I had to register so I could comment.

I tried that monitor in my truck about 4-5 months ago and returned it for various reasons. It has a molex connector for power in with two 12v yellow wire and two grounds. I cut them and found one constant and one for accessory. It will retract when acc is removed but doesn't come back out after acc is applied, you have to press the open button again. the screen resolution is good n my house but hard to see in truck during day. viewing angles wasn't great either. Also you can forget about trying to read the clock display. The remote controls the open/close and tilt, but that's it. So i wouldn't recommend this screen. Hope that helps

I just got mine. I have to say it is irritating the hell out of me now. It seems i've got a faulty model, as the retracting screen doesn't work, it looks like it gets stuck and starts blinking all the lights. There was however a normal powerplug for the car stereo on it. Allover the manual it says do not put this in a car, for pc use only. havnt checked the screen quality yet, but im not going to unless the screen works properly. Too bad it costs me $67 shipping(!), i have a feeling that they are not paying it for me. i got it from the site cnbuynet.com and it's the same as the thermal take except there is no brand on it. crap.. lets see how there service department is like

One just sold on ebay for about £90 GBP... I imagine they're pretty poor in daylight?
