I'm tipping a massive increase in demand for them little PS1 screens!
Frodo - any more info on whether this is specific to these screens?
C!

Did you hook it up directly to the LCD or to the LCD controller board?

It's very interesting that these LCDs take 31kHz horizontal sync RGB, when the PS One only outputs 15kHz horizontal sync RGB. I guess that's a benefit of standardization (why make an LCD controller that only work on a PS1, when you make one that you can repackage and sell as VGA LCD?).

Yer yer I’m still here
I sort of hit a wall in this as the newer geforce 4 cards do not support the 15khz properly in dual mode and the display will not work with them.
But will work with TNT and the geforce cards up to the geforce 2.
I was a little disappointed as I went out and got a geforce 4 460 PCI to run the LCD independently from my main AGP geforce 4 TI but the two cards didn’t like it at all as the drivers wouldn’t allow for me to run the different KHZ on the two cards as they wanted to run the same so I’m looking for another PCI card that will do it that is not made by nvidia.
I haven’t forgotten about showing you guys how to do this but I have been a little busy with my car lately. But I should have that done by the weekend

Waiting in anticipation for the step-by-step guide
Couple of questions:
1) Someone posted that the controller for this display is able to take up to 31khz so would that be better to use than 15khz if you can't run separate display cards?
2) Is this just resticted to the thrustmaster psone display or is this applicable to all of these console screens that have the RGB input capability?
3) I presume this doesn't work with an Eden MB as they don't seem to allow timing changes?

Wait a minute people... Yah, RGB input should theoretically improve the picture (like going from composite to s-video) but it will still be a far cry from true vga input (individual pixel control)...
This has been done before...
http://www.jrok.com/hardware/lcd/lcd_panel_fun.html
I have not done this with my gamevue yet but I will do it tonight and give you all a report on image quality gains...
Mike
The holy grail would be to get a pinout on the LCD panel itself and use a controller to offer true vga input...

VGA is a component video interface using RGB. Do you mean a digital interface when you talk about the single pixel control?

Yah, my bad... I guess if the lcd already has a controller but the weak link is the crappy tv out, maybe this is going to offer similar quality? I will check tonight..

That would be me that mentioned that, I just assumed that since he said it hooked it to VGA, that it took 31kHz, but...

So, it looks like it doesn't take 31kHz, only 15kHz.
