Yeah, and that's a fairly common hack on the web with the older Sharp LCD's, but interesting to know that you can do it with a TNT card which are faily good cards and cheap as chips.

This has been done before...

I have not done this with my gamevue yet but I will do it tonight and give you all a report on image quality gains...

Hmm, the update on the bottom of that page might be the answer to M pro's washedout problem?

Still waiting in anticipation for the step-by-step guide
I have one of these screens, and would love to get rgb input from vga.

Hey M pro, you thought about making a plug and play adaptor cable/box from VGA to the PSone/2 RGB 480i connector?

I've read somewhere that the pins are the same, but without the console part of the connector I wouldn't know where to find one (don't have any consoles that are broken to cut up).

Don't suppose anyone else has made any progress on this?

As far as getting the connector, the adaptor for Guncon for later PSXs has it, just cut off the end that goes into the PSX. (it has a pass-through port)

If you're looking for the pinout of PSX RGB, Games X has it.

Still waiting to hear how M Pro managed to get the card to output 15kHz...

Oh you beauty. I think you just cracked it, the guncon was a great idea, but it gave me a little lateral thought.

The screen has a pass through connector where it is supposed to pass audio/video to the screen from the PS2, and another connector out back that connects to a PS2 AV to composite cable to run it through a TV.

Now if I remove the pass through, I should have a connector that will plug into the other connector, and have prewired soldered cables.

My god. So simple, why didn't I think of it.

Powerstrip most probably.
Be advised though, not all cards will support it

This might be of some use . Found it on the gamex boards.

Hmm. Specially designed for 15hz. based on a Radeon 7000 chispet so performance should at least be adequate for most things, even if not particularly stunning (though probably will be compared to TVout).

Have a good look arround that ultimarc site. Some of their controller boards could prove a fantastic boon to someone wanting to make their own iDrive type controller. Using an Opti-pac for the top spinnerknob, with button on top (or whole top as a pushable button, and an I-pac for the joystick portion it should be fairly simple, you would just need some old cabinets to gut for the parts.

they even do their own arcade cab sticks and buttons, so you would only need to locate the spinner.

Silly Questions, but
on the VGA connector
Ground 5
Ground 10
Red Ground 6
Green Ground 7
Blue ground 8
id0 (ground) 11

Did you connect all these grounds together, and connect to pin 1 on the ps screen, or did you split them and connect to pin 1 and 3?

Or did you just connect 5 and 10 (VGA) to 1 and 3 (PS), and 6,7,8 (VGA) to 8 (PS Video ground).

Or did you just put pin 5->1 and leave it at that.

next. You said you put a resistor between pin 11 red (PS), and the syncs on 6. Would it be better to sync on green pin 12 (PS) like a PC monitor does?

Again, as I said some stupid questions.

I have of those cards, they're quite good. Nothing quite like playing Unreal Tournament on a 15 year-old arcade monitor. I'm still curious how specifically he got a normal card to display at 15kHz, one of the reasons that I have an ArcadeVGA is becuase it's normally hard to get a card to display windows at 15kHz.

If you're looking for more arcade stuff that could be used with a carputer, check out Arcadecontrols.com , lots of links to companies making various parts, including spinners. How to make your own spinners with parts from a mouse and stuff from Home Depot, and other DIY stuff.

Tom, I'm pretty sure that with A Matrox card, and some of the TNT ones, plus Powerstrip, or some other detailed display settings prog (like the ones that actually allow you to change chip registers), you can change the synch frequency etc as well.

Thanks for the stuff about arcadecontrols.com, shall give that good look, because I want to build an iDrive type controller, as well as having a touchscreen.
