Space restrictions..DVI out...to vga in...HELP!

All I need is an item to go from DVI to VGA...taking up as little space as possible. as of right now the adapter I have is too long and the case cannot sit flush in my OEM radio location.

I purchased this from amazon...but I think I got a DVI-I cable instead of the DVI D as there's a small pin(looks like a dash) that should have 4 surrounding slots to accept my dvi-vga adapter. Well it doesn't...

I guess my biggest question is...can I go from HDMI to vga? My intel board also outputs hdmi and well, that would make life really easy as the cable will be far smaller.

Sorry for the ramble, I just really need to find something quick

That was my second option, but I figured amazon would ship faster...too bad they shipped the wrong item.

Anywhooo, I managed to move some OEM wires in my radio location and the computer JUST fits with a bit of persuasion. This is with a simple dvi/vga connector. Great find sicarius, and thanks for the help...

i am facing the same problem. My video out uses a DVI-VGA dongle to output to VGA signal, and the combine length of the dongle, the VGA plug is simply too long. Just be careful how you persuade the fit as it might put undue stress on the motherboard.

by the way, you should be looking for either a DVI-I or a DVI-A cable.

You can't go from HDMI as there is no pin to carry analogue signal.

I am exploring alternative, ie replacing the VGA plug with a DVI-A one instead. I am trying to locate a replacement cable for the lilliput 629 monitor. Not really keen to cut the original cable.
