AC Power for Lilliput touchscreen monitor

I bought a lilliput about 3 or 4 years ago and I had been using it in my car for a while. I'd like to now move it to the house for a different project and I wasn't sure which AC power adapter I have went with it. I found a 12V 400mA 13W adapter that fits and powers it fine, but the adapter gets quite hot while its being used so I makes me think its being overpowered and I don't want to burn up the monitor or my house for that matter. I can't find exact power adapter amps for it.... does anyone know the (AC) power requirements for a Lilliput. I'm not sure of the model number because there is no writing or anything on it (not even Lilliput, but I definitely bought it thru mp3car so I'm pretty sure its a lilliput. It looks exactly like a 619, but I'm not 100% sure.

any help would be much appreciated... thanks in advance.

The monitor input wants about 12 volts, 1 amp. Any AC to 12 volt adapter which can provide 1 amp should do it just fine. This guy should do the trick:

but isn't that too many amps? right now I'm barely giving it 400mA, and that gives 1500mA?

It's perfectly fine to "give it" too many amps. The adapter isn't "forcing" 1.5 amps into the screen. It is forcing 12 volts into the screen. The screen just takes as many amps as it needs from the power adapter. If you take more amps from the power adapter than the power adapter was made to handle, than the adapter will heat up and either fail or cause an electrical fire.

yup. i had a cable guy in my house one day to fix my slow internet. long story short he ended up noticing i had a 12v 1500ma power pack on the modem, when normally they came with 1000ma. he told me "i wont charge you this time, but you can't feed the modem too much power or you will have this happen again". i asked what the voltage should have been and he said "12v, but only 1000ma not 1500". i just went quiet after that. he wasnt charging me and i didnt want to give a free science lesson to someone who wouldn't understand anyway.
