I broke my screen
Alright so the Xenarc 700TS is no more, besides it was the biggest piece of crap to read in the sun I got fed up with the ribbon cable coming loose and ended up breaking the whole think off today Anyway I am so tempted once again to fall back and just get something like the Alpine unit but I really like the features that I can have with a CarPC. So tell me if this monitor would do the trick for what I needed on top of me not having to redo my bezel to make it work http://cgi.ebay.com/DOUBLE-DIN-LILLI...|294%3A50#shId

WTF? Did you mess with the ribbon cable at all? I put mine in my dash 3 years ago and haven't had a problem with it since. And if you use the remote control, you can max the brightness up to 99 (default is 27) and I can see it in the sunlight no problem.

if your bezel fits standard double din, then that monitor will be fine. it's a commonly used screen on this site. as for sunlight readablility, I think this one will be comparable to the xenarc.

Well mine was a TS not a TSV if that makes anything different? The piece that held the cable in place broke off so I tried to jam a plastic piece in to hold it and I ripped up the whole connector and it ripped up several traces off the board itself.

For some reason yes...I was so frustrated with it. Is this lilliput going to be good in the day or is it really worth going for the translective screen?

I have one (backlit) and it's pretty good in the day also considering my windows are tinted (20%). In bright sun you still wont be able to see sh** but otherwise it's bearable. You can't ramp the back-light to much cause it will wash out the picture just like sunlight.
check it out:

You just gave me an idea with that picture you posted. What about a hood that extends out of the dash to block sunlight on the screen at the push of a button? Put it out if you need it, keep it retracted most of the time when you don't.

If that frame is like the bybyte frame that I'm using (and it looks identical), then you could put the screen in like this: http://www.bybyte.com/images/ABS626-...structions.pdf
I would think that a transflective screen would fit too...but I haven't tried.

No, the /T means it's LED backlit.
