Xenarc, installation question..
I just bought a Xenarc 700V, it has no VGA input. The s-video connector (I think that's what it is called) on it has a female end on it. So does the video card on my computer. I also received a cable with it that has 2 video inputs, 2 audio inputs & 1 video output source, 1 power source input and 1 s-video male connector all one one cable. I know nothing about LCDs on computers or installed on car radios, so what would be the best way to hook this monitor to my computer?

So you have two SVHS connectors on the screen; one male and one female? I would try to use the male SVHS connector first, and if that doen't work use a normal SVHS video cable (male-male) to connect the videocard to the female SVHS connector.
If neither one works, then try to get things runing by using one of the composite video inputs (either with the video card if it supports it or an ordinary VHS)

Well I just noticed last night that the plug on the video card and the connector on the LCD are not the same. The one coming off of the LCD(which is the only connector on thier) kinda looks like a PS/2 connector. the plug on the video card looks almost the same except for the black tiny plastic prong(I guess) inside the plug is horizontal instead of vertical. I know that is confusing, I will try and post pictures of what they look like because I have no idea how to explain them.

I am still having problems with this.
I tried powerstrip, but it is not reading the custom resolution. When I just have the LCD plugged in and not the monitor, the computer doesn't even read the LCD as being hardware. It does show the boot up screens all the way until I get to the Windows XP boot screen(The resolution is crap when it goes through that). After that the LCD starts going crazy and I have to turn the computer off.
Can anybody help me with this.
If it comes down to it I guess I'll just have to sell this screen and get one with a VGA hook up.

I think that would be the S-video connector, if your PC does not have a matching connector you might need to buy an expansion card to get an image to the LCD

Ok Here are some pictures that might help
This is the monitor I have
This is the plug on the LCD
This is the cable that came with the LCD. The adapter to the left is the same as the one in the picture above, just a female end. The yellow and white are AV and the other black one is where the power plugs into for the LCD
This is the video card on my house computer. notice it is not the same as the plug from the LCD.
This is the computer I have now for my car. All this one has is VGA I didn't know that when I bought it. Sorry about the size of the picture
So what do I do? The plug from the LCD is the same kind of plug as a PS/2.

Is that cable part of the LCD? Like it is not removable? WTF that is whack..
If you only have a VGA card on your 'puter why are you mucking with the SVHS and S-Video cables?
You have to get a converter box...

Read...Read. I didn't know that my new computer only had VGA, that is why I was testing it on my house computer.
Their is one cable coming off of the LCD, and the other one that has the audio video connectors on it is a separate cable.

That would never work, especially since now on my new comp I only have VGA. Even if I got a vid card it wouldn't work. Why?...because their are no Female S-video ends to work with.
Which type of plug is this? SVHS? because I looked that up and it didn't look like it.

I think you answered your own question right here...

It's called "Mini-DIN" and is used by a lot of video devices (including camcorders and DVD players)
You also have video out, so make sure you are not confusing anything with the output cable..

the lcd appears to only take a composite video input. Just get a cable with male-to-male rca-phono plugs on it. Connect one end to the lcd cable's yellow female port, and the other end to the composite video out on your video card (the yellow female port).

PLug the cable you got with the LCD into the LCD input so you have a cable coming from the LCD that splits into the white Vid input, yellow vid input and power. Put power into the LCD, then a simple composite male-male cable into either of the vid inputs. Set the LCD to that input and then boot. Job done. No SVHS required at all - you are confusing the adaptor they supply as an SHVHS input i think.
LCD > Adaptor cable > Male comp > male comp > Comp output on vid card
