Xenarc 700IDT interference

Hi,
I've just finished a car PC install in my 1996 Nissan Skyline. I've got a problem though with horizontal lines that flicker through the display, if that makes sense.
This only happens on the PC input, i also run 2 RCAs, one for a Playstation 2 and the other for the DVD input from my head deck. Those seems to be fine.

At first i thought this may be a power issue as the screen runs straight off the cars power supply (not through the PSU). According to the manufacturer it can be run fine like this but i'm thinking of switching to the PSU just to be safe based on most of the posts i've researched here.

However just to test this theory, i plugged the VGA cable into my laptop instead of the car PC and even at the same res and refresh rate - the flicker is gone. It only happens when the VGA cable is plugged into the car PC.

Will running the screen off the PSU help solve this problem? And if not what else could i look at trying? The manufacturer makes mention of adjusting the 'phase' option on the screen (doesnt do much), and also running a power filter (have a 5amp one already wired in).
Thanks for any advice!

Have you tried another Monitor on the Car PC? If so, what happens if you change the resolution on the PC, is it the same?

Thanks for the reply mate! I plugged in a 17" LCD monitor, obviously running off a powerpoint in the garage, and so far as i can see there isn't any interference.
I tried a few different resolutions and it looked fine.

I've now got the monitor running off the car PC PSU and there is no change, still have the weird wavering lines going through the display. Any other suggestions?

I know you tried different resolutions when you connected the big LCD, I assume that you also tried another resolution with the in 7” car screen with the Car-PC and I assume you noted no change. I also assume that you used the same video cable each time.

So the only thing I can think of is that the Video card or onboard graphics are generating a signal that if fine on another monitor but is either marginal or different in such a way as to cause this problem. I have seen this before with different Graphic cards and screens. Some just don’t get on together.
