Red Lcd

Alrighty, I have a 4x20 HD44780 LCD I bought off someone on this forum about a year or two ago. Its just kinda sat around, but I just bought a new HU with Aux in, and it kinda sparred me to start on my Mp3car project again.

What I want to know is this, Is it possible to change the back light to Red, instead of yellow?

The whole reason I bought the new HU was to match my GrandPrix's dash, which is all red, and I would be working backwards if I used a Yellow LCD backlight.

Is it simple as swapping some little Micro LEDs? Or is it more complicated?

well, I went ahead and tried, and just messed it up bad.
I scratched out the traces for the LEDs, which worked, but now the whole thing doesn't work.

Rip LCD, and 50$ plus shipping :-(

I'll just buy a 2x40 Red Crystal Fontz LCD and serial adapter.

man good thing u tried it first. I was goin to do the same, but decided against it. going to try to stick a piece of red film/plastic in front of the led. I have a green on, so with the red film i'm getting yellowish orange, which isn't bad. better than green
