short answer... you need a screen, a contoller card, a hirose cable (most likely), inverter, inverter cable, vga cable, power cable.

long answer...

step 1 - search

step 2 - read threads about lcds, controller cards, hirose cables, backlight inverters...

step 3 - ask more detailed questions. (what do you already have?)

step 4 - hook up screen and watch lcd monitor.

sorry, but this is a weekly, if not daily topic... there are tons of threads on what you need to hook up an LCD screen.

Wink

I guess i'm up to the point where i got the lcd... and now i am looking for the 2 other parts, which is the inverter for it, and also the controller for it. I tired searching under LQ9D and only came up with 4 threads and not anything too detailed. Put mostly at this point i wanna know what parts are compatible that people have used. and i guess once i get those parts, i'm gonna ask how to make the cables etc. Hey what you want from a n00b =P

Go to http://www.ergpower.com and click on the cross reference guide in the top/middle section of the screen. Find your model # and therefore your inverter. Then choose a controller. I'd email infrared to see if he has any more. I have 2 and love them.

Thanks... now another stupid question... if i have a lcd controller, how would i know it is compatible with my lcd panel? And second of which how do i power a panel... i assume the stand alone ones take in sometype of power from a 12v or something, and a pci card is powered by the pci bus... but what if the computer i am using doesn't have a pci bus... could i hook it up directly somehow?

you need to have datasheets (or whitepapers) for the parts you are trying to connect.

other wise you are going to fry one of the parts.

there really is no way to hook them up without the reference information.

Controller LQ9... series

The former LQ9... series from Sharp is phased out for several years (the actual series named LQ084...., better viewing angle, higher brightness) is pin / timing compatible with the actual LQ084... LQ10 Series (eg. LQ084V1DG21 or LQ10D42, LQ104V1DG11 /DG21 and so on)

Some regional series of Sharp (europe / america ) have only some different features (like glare / anti glare top coating)

Therefore if you´re looking for a controller card, you could take a look for controller cards for the above mentioned types.

I could give you some examples, but i think they are hard to get in the US.

Costs for pre programmed kits (consisting of controller card, osd pcb, backlight inverter and pre config. cables) are here in germany for about 130-150 EUR (thats about 136-158 USD)

regards,
marco
