write text to 20x4 LCD in DOS

I have a desktop MP3 player which is running Sawn-off Windows 95 to start in DOS and MPXPLAY,

Anyone know of a simple DOS program I can use to write text to my 20x4 LCD screen attached the printer port?

It works great in MPXPLAY now, just want to put something in my AUTOEXEC.BAT with "STARTING UP" and that kind of thing.

I am running the computer "blind" without a monitor. So I am hoping to write some batch files to make ripping CDs to WAV or MP3 possible with the LCD.

Sorry if this has been written before, but cant find anything obvious in the search engine.

I know you can use the echo command to send text to the serial port, would it work for the printer port, too?

Try this:
c:\>echo Hi Mom>lpt1
