what lcd screen is the best for daylight viewing

Hello out there, I would just like to get you guys opinions on screens that u have actually used, as to which one works the best in the daylight. That means readability, picture color, and ect. Give some of the pros and cons of each. The size range should be between 6.4 and 10.4 inches. I will use these opinions in deciding on what my purchase will be for my carputer within the next week or two. I am really leaning toward vga over ntsc due to the fact that I like a high resolution clear picture. My system will be setup for mp3, gps, dvd, possibly satellite radio, rear view camera, and wireless networking. So my monitor will need to be able to display a variety of different formats. What is your opinions about the xenarcs? Best u can by for the money or not. Thanx in advance for everyone's participation.

I have the tft-lcd (TM-701L) from digitalww.com and all I can tell you is rca screens are terrible at day light. I saw this guys 14" vga screen and it looks crisp.

They are rare and hard to find.

I believe they are "transflective". Some of the Fujitsu laptops / workpads have them. Find the proper term for it and you can then search.

A few PDA's have them, but not most. That will tell you something... everyone with a PDA wants one, but the cost $

My laptop screen claims to be visible in direct sunlight, but it is just barely. You would be surprised the amount of automatic adjustment your eyes make between indoor and outdoor light without you realizing it... Sunlight is incredibly bright, you will not find a backlit design which will still be visible in direct sunlight (have you ever tried to watch a TV in direct sunlight?)

The only ones that you will find are those reflective ones. They pass light through a special screen on the top of the display, through the LCD matrix, reflect it off of the bottom of the screen, and back through again (incidentally this is more efficient than a single backlight -- the light passes through the matrix twice)... However as someone else mentioned these are very expensive and good luck finding on with a decent size. What size are you looking for?

Even my Ipaq screen (reflective) isn't great in direct sunlight. It's a lot better than my laptop, but still not great.

My old Epson digital camera (850Z) has a great system. It has a flip-down top that would allow sunlight to actually reflect through the back of the LCD (acting like a backlight)... That system worked awesome and you could so easily see the LCD in superbright sunlight, it was an excellent system. I haven't seen anything like that for LCDs > 1.5" thou

my ipaq is not bad (Ipaq 3835) I can somewhat see it in daylight but obviously not as well at dark lighting.

I am wondering, doesn't someone sell some anti-glare film? kind of like of sunglasses work for your eyes? That would be an obvious solution.

Just thinking out loud.

would that be "polarising film"???
it is readily availaBle from camera shops to polarise light for modelling.
Buy a “gelatine” type filter – its cheaper than glass and can be cut with scissors.
I think that you will need to be careful how you “orient” the film as it may interfere with the function of the LCD.

Tinting the windows the best way to remedy direct sunlight entering the vehicle. It's most likely cheaper too

6.4-10.4 TFT Screen Cost: $200-$600
Tinting of Windows in Vehicle: Cost $99-$200

Fujitsu laptops / workpads with Transflective Junk: $Who Cares!

Seeing the screen In daylight while in your vehicle: Priceless....err you get the picture

If you actually want a "brighter" lcd monitor that can be better viewed in Sunlight conditions you need to look at the NIT rating of the lcd:

FAQ - what is a NIT?
