Please Help - Qbe Tablet PC touchscreen problem

Hey all,

I'm having a prob with my Qbe Cirrus table PC. The touchscreen isn't responding when you try to calibrate it.

The software puts spots where u are supposed to touch with your finger to calibrate but when you touch, it just times out.

The weird thing is, there is another option where u can "draw". You are supposed to be able to draw on the screen with your finger...this too doesn't respond to touching the screen. HOWEVER, when i click the left mouse button and drag the pointer around, it draws on the screen as if it is receiving input from the touchscreen.

I am not sure what is going on, I've downloaded the lasted drivers and insured they are installed with no issues. The software detects the hardware and says it is functioning correctly.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Jesse

When you touch the panel make sure you touch and hold until it gets the input. This is the way it work on our touch screens.

Does the driver have any status to show if the touchscreen is being recognized. In my driver (DynaPro SC3 serial) it shows a little green checkmark if the device is configured correctly and ready for input. I was getting the same time out and draw options you are when I embarrassed myself remebering I had turned off the serial ports a couple months ago. Made the change and now it works perfect even though the status was shown as good even before I turned on the serial port. The driver/utility has 10 tabs full of every option I could think of as most touchscreens are for kiosk use. But by default my touchscreen responds instantly and I don't hold my finger anywhere to get the pointer to move.
Has the touch ever worked or did it just start acting up? It would make sense that you can draw with your mouse even if it is expecting touch as the OS is just taking it all in as input and this draw test is just taking what windows gives it. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies guys. I did press and hold thinking that could be the problem...to no avail.

As far as the software recognizing the hardware, I am positive it is recognized...it has a button that will query the touchscreen and when pressed, it returns the model and speed, com port, etc.

All serial ports are enabled and appear to be correct. I am simply baffled.
