Trouble setting custom resolutions....

I am working on getting my carputer up and running. I started with the LCD display. I mimicked the setup AllenRubble has here . For now, I have my setup running as a second display off of my home PC (Radeon 8500). I know the maximum resolution the LCD can handle is 1024X512. I was able to create a custom resolution, using powerstrip, but 1024X512 looks like crap. If I use any of the windows defaults, the image looks fine, but the bottom portion of the screen is chopped off (same with 1024X512). In powerstrip, I went for the resolutions that are 16X9, as well as, some of the common ones used in the forums for the Xenarc. Although 1024X512 is 18X9, I figured I could handle a little distortion, but I can't get any custom resolution to work. Could this possible be a problem with using the LCD as a second (extended window) monitor? Even if that were the case, why can't I create any other custom resolutions. In case any question my approach, I right click the PS icon >> Display Profiles >> Configure >> (choose the second display properties for my video card) Advanced Timing Options (only real-time adjustment checked) >> Custom Resolutions >> Select the 16X9 Aspect ratio >> then choose some of the predefined options that are no greater than both 1024 and 512. Is there a fundamental problem that I am overlooking? Although I am a n00b to this sort of application (carputers), I have worked with computers since the days of DOS. With that said, has anyone had the same sort of problem? What was done to ovecome this 'obstacle?'

Thanks in advance-

Here the Update:
Somehow the resolutions came through that I was hoping for. With some tinkering around in powerstrip, I got the screen to fit somewhat. One of the problems I run into now is:

1. I get an on-screen message to "Change Video Mode"

2. The screen will no longer move anymore, but it needs to to fit.

Are these problems limitations of my LCD and/or Controller?
How can I remove the message? Then, how can I move the screen to fit?

Where are the powerstrip gurus when I need ya??

Finally, a little progress

ok, I got the resolution to work to my liking (finally). My only concern now is the OSD message to change resolutions. Is this a problem with the firmware on the controller board, of something else? The controller, btw, is made by VertexLCD. Something allenrubble sold me. Although he says he had no problem doing 1024X512 with his setup, I don't understand why this is such a dilemma.

-Anyone?

How do I get rid of this?????

I bought a M10000 and loaded WinXP pro. The strangest thing happened after I loaded in. I had resolutions in there that weren't windows standards, in fact, I had 1024X512 as one of the choices. Although I tried the resolution, it still came up like crap (worse than before). I returned the M10000 because it wasn't the Nemehiah core, but plan to get the the Nemehiah as soon as I can find it.
The question now is, how the hell do I get this LCD to display correctly????

Hijinks21-
What resolution are you using? Also, what controller board are you using? Are you using a seperate video card, or the onboard?
