lcd power

hey guys. . ..how have all of you supplied power to your lcd. . .did you directly to the battery or did you take power from the computer cpu. . . which would be more advisable to do. . .if it's safe to hook it up to the car's power supply (battery) would i need to use some sort of voltage regulator to keep the voltage steady to the screen or is that too much to do?

thanks

no do not connect it to the car's power. Use the 12v rail off the pc's psu.

Rig the power to one of the yellow & black wires that is part of the power connector you power the harddrives, cdroms, etc., with. This way you're getting a common power source as the rest of the PC so you should get a clean picture. Also, when you power-down the PC you'll shut the screen(s) off, too, therefore you don't have to worry about forgetting to shut the screen off.

see my plan was to use the blinking led that occurs when the screen was in standby to have a sort of pseudo alarm. . . .heh but if not that's cool
