A monitor, no matter how good isn't worth Marital disharmony. I know!

The touch is serial.

wouldnt it be ok with windows and winamp , i mean the screen seem good quality 800/600 etc

What was the CPU in it? That was a full Chassis mount Workstation wasn't it, not just a monitor?

Cheers for understanding.
It's all academic for now anyway. Late last week, I forgot to do my normal hibernate procedure. When I switched on, it went into safe mode.
Giving it ages to boot, I managed to do a blind shutdown and reboot into normal (Matrox G450 TVout doesn't work until windows drivers load). Everything was fine. Driving back to work, had to emergency stop, and stalled. Cranking refired the PC, and I thought it had gone back to safe, because I heard the motherboard onboard beeper go on.

When I got to work, I tried to dump it back to normal mode, but it wasn't having any of it.

After the talk about no new monitor, I decided to try to find a cheap scan converter, at least to get it be boot visible on the composite screen, if it thinks it has a VGA monitor attached. Even if the qulaity is lower than the Matrox TVout.

Rigged it all up. checked it all out. Switched on. nothing. Motherboard beeps on power, no activety from the hdd, PSU fan spins, CPU fan spins, motherboard chip fan spins, but nothing else.

Noticed that the PSU, which was held to the base of the case by one screw, and to the side of the case by two strips of Velcro has shifted to one side. The other screw down tab (which I couldn't screw down because the mother boardtray was in the way has shifted (pivoted on the one screw) and is touching the board. Right on a tip of exposed solder. Don't know if I've blown anything, but it looks like it, and I've had the board for about 3 weeks, so I doubt I even have the recipt anymore, to try and play dumb at the bigname retailpark "Joe user" type computer shop I bought it from.
Could try a different video card, see if that is what it is, but I'm not getting post beeps, and while the screen goes from no signal to a flickering signal, I'm not getting anything at all displayed using the scan converter. Also when I power it up, it power the FM modulator, which normally completley overrides the station behind. This time, there is more noise because the modulator gets power from the PSU, but no audio signal going through.

Looks like I have completly shafted version one of my carpc, before I could even get to having a decent screen.

I know. Horrible. The plan was to go with the full size 1.3 Duron system for about a year, while I upgraded to a decent screen, then redo the system. Looks like I may be redoing that sooner than I hoped.

There just wasn't anything happening. All systems dead.

Problem is. I bought it from PC world (component rack, because it was last in stock and reduced to clear). they won't be having any more of those in. A good old MSI KT133 with Raid (didn't plan to use the raid, the None raid version didn't have USB 2 on board).

Oh, no. Don't want to drop that slow, I'd rather stick my latop in the passenger footwell, or the boot (366 Celeron).

I guess I'm going to have to spring for the new Epia and stuff now, and try to get it delivered to work instead of home. just started to get the ballances down on the CC's too.

Lol, maybe, but this is a very tidy old Sony Vaio F250 that I've ran for a few years now. Runs pretty well too.

Just nipped over to Linitx. Shouldn't really, but I've got a
M10000 Nehmiah
512meg DDR low pro
a 1u 150watt ATX PSU (cheap at £29 and will work with the inverter till I can afford an Opus)
and a budget CDrom (to install) till I can use my USB 2 external DVD again.

Going to stick it into One of these Aluminium boxes.

I'm getting them delivered to work, so I can shuffle them away till she is less moody.

Snap Mine's been sitting in a Maplin box for a few months now, with a nice big hole hacksawed out the top to keep it cool! (planned to but a grille there but haven't got round to it yet).

Which box did you go for? I need to work out how deep I need it, to get the nehmiah and the PSU in.
