yeah it matters. only one side is touch sensitive, and there is a top and bottom to it. on mine if you are looking straight at the panel with the header cable to the left hand side, and the sticker on the cable facing you then it was the right way round. just make sure you get the cable plugged in to the controller the right way round or its like drawing in mirror image.
Personaly i just hooked it up on my main rig with out it been placed over a monitor, and experimented until i could move the mouse pointer normaly round the screen, almost like i was working on a drawing tablet.

Ah, excellent. Thats what I wanted to know. I take it you mean the big white cable/foil strip with the big whit sticker. I want that to the front, with the writing the correct way up then.

Not too bad. About 20 seconds if you use hibernate.
About a minute if you use full shutdown.
Just do a normal shutdown/reboot about once a week to keep the hiberfil cleaned out.

20 secs is not too bad. Start the car, hit the Headunit switch, listen to the inverter beep to say you have power, put on your seatbelt, and before you know it, the music starts off where you left it.
The Saab is an old oil cooled only turbo, so you need to let it idle for a minute or so before you switch off. Just start the shutdown, when it goes off, switch off the HU, then switch off the engine. Works for me.

That seems to be perfect for your enviroment then...to be honest i am no where near putting it in the car so i am just thinking 'faster is better' but i suppose when i actually install it and experience it, i will be able to make judgement on the boot times i need etc....

Seems fine. Goods details, plenty of specs and stuff. Price not bad.

Are there special features i should be looking out for, i take it OSD is part of the controller....

Best is contact EarthLCD tell them what panel you have, and what features you motherboard or video card has.
Probably want an anologue RGB connection to a standard 15pin VGA card. They will tell you which controller and cable set you need for the that screen.
You might get lucky and find Trident or hero Electronics in the UK have a kit for that screen.
Can't remeber the addesses, but something like heroelec.com, and tridantdisplays.co.uk

Will do if it is compatable with your screen and they have cabling for it. Contact them.
Doesn't cost to ask questions.
