At the moment, I'm using a composite playstatio 2 STN screen that i hacked out of it's case, and sandwiched between two sheets of perspex/acrylic.

I'm now investigating the possibilities for going VGA ASAP.

usually that means DSCustom/DigitalWW/EarthLCD/Miles/Xenarc (opps, I named them).

I also found Ennovation will sell to the public, even though they say they are trade only.

This time last year I enquired at Hero Electronics and got this reply.
"Hi Carl, although Sharp have 8.4" in both 640x480, and 800x600, I would suggest you go for a 6.4". This size is more popular and will be supported with a new high brightness and wide temp. for automotive application. It will be a drop in replacement for the existing module so development can continue until it becomes available. I can offer the following kit.
LQ64D341 (6.4" VGA, TFT.) £294.00
CXA0214 ( backlight inverter ) £22.70
HEKAB-51021-0500 (inverter power cable ) £1.54
HEAC9511V3 ( VGA interface board ) £129.00
HE420687401 ( data cable ) £14.20
HE410680450 (OSD board + cable ) £19.70
95638 (6.4" resistive touch screen ) £43.71
RES4-EVAL-KIT (SC4 controller,Cables, Driver software and manual ) £167.57
All parts are available from stock.
I have tried to make the kit as close to "plug and play" as was possible.
I have attached the relevant data.
Best regards
John Leather
" so prices won't be cheap. I thought I had gotten a reply from Miles electronics too, but I can't find it.

Arround the same time, I also recieved a quote of £499+vat and shipping for the Flatvision 8T 8" touch monitor. thye had at the time, a 2 week lead time. Have a browse about their site. They have a few gems.

I've also asked Calibre UK to quote me for a touchscreen 8.4" monitor too.

Wow i didnt realise you would need all those different bits of kit......i mean i thought a vga tft screen would have the vga controller built in..

"HE410680450 (OSD board + cable ) £19.70
95638 (6.4" resistive touch screen ) £43.71
RES4-EVAL-KIT (SC4 controller,Cables, Driver software and manual ) £167.57"

Is this the touchscreen kit items?

Well, he mated parts to make it as close as a kit. that list for On screen display for adjustment, the touch screen and controller.
And that is will all the cables correct for the panels.

That is a problem a lot people have. they buy an LCD/TFT form Ebay, for £20, and find that they need a £300 controller board.

I asked them for prices for the gain screens. Remember, these are in the UK, you still have to add VAT, but no duty to pay, and should be shipped quicker.

They will deal with customers direct on a single order.
And looks like will arrange a group buy discount.
The W700 range is a great little 7" wide screen monitor with a bright and high quality Panasonic LCD panel. We sell quite a few of these for all sorts of applications ranging from in-car DVD/GPS to mobile CCTV and I receive some really good feedback.

These monitors come in a numbers of versions, I have quoted you for each type.

Prices are;

FVP-700GA-Y 7" 16:9 TFT monitor, VGA input, OSD £348.09
FVP-700GA-YT 7" 16:9 TFT monitor, VGA input, OSD with touch £379.78
FVP-700GA-Y-V 7" 16:9 TFT monitor, 2x composite, 1x VGA input, OSD £369.22
FVP-700GA-Y-VT 7" 16:9 TFT monitor, 2x composite, 1x VGA input, OSD with touch £400.91
FVP-700GA-V 7" 16:9 TFT monitor, 2x composite in, 1x out, OSD £295.27

Prices exclude VAT and shipping.

The FVP-700GA-YT works out at roughly £445+ shipping.
Any one who has ordered one from the states car to let us know what that cost with Duty if you were caught for it?

Prices as follows;

How do the prices compare to say EarthLCD, when you include the Shipping cost, and the Duty and VAT if customs spot it?

It's a bugger living in the UK isn't it?
