Psone LCD... not quite right...yet

It seems that I finally have my psone LCD working... kinda properly. I decided to start a new post for this one because I thought that maybe my other post got lost in the confusion. Anyways, I did the PSONE VGA mod using the Serio (PAL) modification with the Powerstrip settings provided MPro's (NTSC -> Powerstrip Arcade Setting ) mod.
Because of this, I am only using the CSYNC wire from VGA pin 13 and do not have a Hsync/Vsync combiner with a resistor connecting it to the Green channel as Mpro did (I did try it and got the same problems but lesser quality).

When I switch to the PSone LCD, I get a full color image with decent sharpness. The only problem is that the image will not be centered on the screen. Rather, I will get half the bottom image showing at the top, and half the top image showing on the bottom. I can adjust this by changing the vertical settings and it will start scrolling, and then I can get it to stop scrolling when the image is centered. I was just wondering if this was the case with everyone else who has done this mod.

Another problem is that when I try to play video files, I do not get the entire video. Half of the bottom is cut out the top part that does show is stretched to fit the aspect ratio of the screen. Is this because the video is being transmitted as a progressive image and the screen is running interlaced? Any help would be much appreciated. I would upload pics, but I gave my digital camera to my brother and have yet to buy another. What was I thinking...

9600 Pro Csync

Hey Jol, Thanks for replying. I am using a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. In powerstrip, the Csync box is not checked. When I do try to check it, the screen goes crazy and I have to wait the 10 seconds for it to reset to normal. I can check it, but it doesn't work. Does this mean my card doesn't support Csync? Thanks.

if the box is check-able, your card supports c-sync...and it should do the trick... you got the small lcd connected when doing this? if you got multible pc's, use www.realvnc.com to control the pc with the psone/radeon to test settings

vnc

Thanks! I'll try VNC. It was a pain having to switch monitors everytime I wanted to change a setting. I wanted to get it working on the secondary channel on my video card, but for some reason, powerstrip wont let me touch any of those settings. I think it is because the radeon isn't sensing a monitor connected. If I can't get it working smoothly, I might just have to invest in a xenarc or something... I can feel my wallet getting thinner already... sigh...

I think i've posted this before, but here goes again:

Videos will be stuffed up if the video data is rendered via overlay instead, my guess is as what you said, the data is progressive, the display is interlaced.

You can 'fix' this by turning off YUV acceleration in DirectShow. Open an AVI file, then obtain properties for the filter called "Video Renderer". Go to the DirectDraw tab, and switch off YUV flipping and YUV overlays. That should fix it. If it's still broken, turn off RGB overlays.

If windows media player doesn't let you get the properties page for the Video Renderer DShow filter, download a copy of DivxG400 or another tool which'll let you edit properties for all running dshow filters.
