dodgy laptop tv out

Alrighty,

Just wondering if anyone can help me on this annoying problem

I have an IBM Thinkpad T20 and i'm using the s-video output into a RCA video plug feeding into a 7" motorized screen.

The picture was fine to start with but all of a sudden i just got a constant wavey picture! I messed about with the screen settings and it went clear again, after a few minutes it went back to the wavey picture again

This is all with the engine turned off as well.

Hi!
I purchased the tsv so I could use the VGA out from that same laptop. I have the T20 also. I couldn't get a picuture from the Savage chipset out of the SVideo connection so I used the VGA and that worked great. Do you have to switch the video out each time you restart your Stinkpad?

stinkpad.. hehe

No, i'm sure i managed to restart the laptop with it still outputing the video to my screen.

However the annoying part is... it was working completely fine when i first plugged it in! then the picture just suddenly went all crap (wavey).

So it does work, just not consistently

I was wanting to keep away from using the VGA output port as ive heard it drastically reduces the video quality when using a VGA-RCA converter?

Sorry, I don't know about that. I use the vga port on the back of the stinkpad to connect directly to the VGA port on the monitor. The resultant image is pretty darn good. Try the monitor with the VGA port and you'll be pretty happy. Make sure you remember to use the FN + F7 key to switch output.

ahh.. i can't do that with my screen as its a RCA video input (not a vga screen)

So I would need the VGA-RCA converter which I'm not keen on using as
its more expense and as i mentioned i think the quality decreases.

I tried to install the lastest savage s3 video drivers but that didn't do anything. Dont know whether its the actual screen or the thinkpad. I havn't got another screen with a RCA video input so I can't test the thinkpads video out
