5.6" composite you will not be able to read any text

if you want to use GPS and have it be worthwhile a 7" vga screen is your best route

I have the xenarc 7" and it is just big enough for me to read. I wouldn't go with anything smaller. My screen is mounted about 10" away from my face.

5" = too small to read text period, no matter if it's vga or not

if you want GPS do it right the first time

I think it's all relative...I have a 7" screen that's an easy 2' away from my eyes & I can see/read all but the smallest text while driving.(i.e. roads in CoPilot 2003 in the map view) I can read everything fine in winamp from my backseat which is another 2'+ added to the distance. I use the double size feature and increased my playlist font to either 16 or 18, I can't remember. I do agree that you'd be pushing it with the 5" screen & I'm sure the 7" is worth the extra money esp. since you'll be trying to glance at it while driving. bigger = better = safer in most cases.
