Hitachi SX20V001 5" x 7" LCD display

i happened to find a dealer that could hook me up with a bunch of these, not to sure how much they would cost but i was wondering if u could give me some input...if there worth getting or not.

It is a dual panel 16-bit color passive VGA display, ClearType compatible in portrait mode. RGB color display, 640x480 dot pitch: 0.079x0.237 mm

I also have a data sheet and the lcd has a built in touch layer.

Sounds like it's a screen designed for a tablet PC.

shoot us some specs like brightness, contrast, and viewing angle.

does it have an integrated touch controller??

Those panels are passive matrix and you would be MUCH happier with an active matrix (TFT) screen. Passive matrix LCD's have a very narrow viewing angle. You have to look at them almost dead-on to see the picture whereas an active matrix screen has a much wider viewing angle and is more suitable for use in a car.

Also pay attention to the fact that those are "prototype" panels. Even if they can provide you with data sheet, you'll probably have a hell of a time interfacing them.

You would do yourself a HUGE favor to buy a setup that is known to work. Trust me, I've purchased about a dozen lcd's trying to find the "perfect" one for my car and now have over $500 worth of stuff that I'm not going to use in my final setup. I learned a lot about interfacing lcd's, inverters, controllers, etc yet I almost wish I had just bought a Xenarc (or equivalent) from the beginning.
