Gameboy, Gamegear , LCD screens ???

Would anyone happen to have , or know where to find information on using the LCD out of a Gameboy, or Sega gamegear as a display for a car MP3 player.

never going to happen. The resolution is horrible and won't work for a carPC. Youd need some type of driver or something because its not like theres a composite video cable running inside there. Besides, you can buy 7" screens with much better quality than that for just over $100.

well I was thinking along the lines of just a simple display. I saw where somone took a black and white 40x4 LCD using a winamp plugin wired it into the paralelle port on the comp and it was able to display song titles.

Unless you can find good product documentation on the displays used in a gameboy or gamegear it's going to be pretty hard to use one.

The 40Xsomething character LCDs are all based on well known microcontrollers and that's why people can program them to display things.

Not a complete no go area wit a game boy at least.
Take a look at
http://www.gatesboy.com
there is full webring around about gameboy development etc. I have seen many varying projects including 1 in elektor where it was used as an oscilliscope and onother fyp where it was used as a universal remote control.
I've done a lota work on it personally and it is actually quite simple to create ur own rom cartridge that can display simple text usin just a pic and a few caps.

If all this is possible then im sure it is possible to create a cartridge with a composite in. Fairly complicated but as da gameboy has been completely reverse engineered then im sure what ur lookin 4 is available on da net

Sega Nomad takes RGB. Gamegear can take composite through a TV Tuner.
