710VG vs. DS700YYV HELP!

Well guys this is my first post here but I have been doing alot of reading on this site.

I plan on installing a carputer in my Buick and part of my frame off rebuild. I already have the computer side taken care of but now I need an LCD. This LCD will not only be for playing music and video but also to run my laptop based scan tools that I use to record engine data as I scream down the track.

So I am down to two choices here:

Armen's 710 VG 400 nit no Touchscreen

or

DS Customs DS700YYV Touchscreen 200 nits

The only in between model would be the 700TS from Xenarc. It has 260 nits and a touchscreen. But I would rather support our smaller vendors here in the community if I can.

So can any of you guys give me insight, personal experience (ie wish you'd got the brighter one or wish you got the touchscreen?) ?? I'm looking for any help I can get here. Thanks!!

Well I guess that seals up that deal! Thanks for the quick reply Armen. When are these going to be available to us?

These should be here with in a week +
I will update this (http://digitalww.com/VGA_TM_710VG.htm) page with the touch screen model and the correct price. Tomorrow I will start taking orders to be shipped when the monitor becomes available.

Nice, this screen sounds good. 400 nits AND 200:1 contrast ratio, and compared to the Panasonic, 6mm less width, 3.5mm shorter and 1mm thinner. I am doing a flush install in my dash, I assume I can rip it apart and repackage it fairly easily?

Armen I have a few questions..

1) Is the new 710VG a true touch screen or is it a kit with it?

2) Are the specs for the new version the same as the old version but just added a touch screen?

I'm in the market for a touch screen like TurboBuick and was also unsure of which screen I wanted. I'll be checking your site for the update and will most likely be ordering one.

I have a question about that new screen (TM710VG), I know that it is going to be much brighter, but how does the [Side light system, CFL 1 tube] compare to the back light system used with the other screens? I don't know the difference in expected quality and such. How does it affect viewing angles and things like that? Has anyone seen one of these types of screens in action?

I am very interested in this model because of the brightness factor.
Armen, will the currently listed version (non-TS) still be available for $325 once you start getting the new version in?

Thanks for any help

Just like everything else but you do lose the warranty.

If you're careful there shouldn't be any problems.

1) This will be a factory install

2) Yes they are. Later down the road there will be a model that will include a TV Tuner
