wireless video?

Is there a cheap way to perform wireless AV? for example, a box that takes the three standard RCA composite cables (Red/White/Yellow) and transmits the data to a receiving box that outputs the same three cables? Something that could do about 50ft range would be ok. Any ideas?

I am not sure but I do have a wireless colour cam that I don't use. It's the same one from digitalww (I believe). You can get it cheap from me. I have no use at the time.

saw this just last night. Looks like a good idea. I wonder if these things will cause problems with wi-fi as it looks like this one uses the same frequency 2.4GHz

I wonder if anyone makes anything like this for a computer monitor. I'd love to get rid of all my cables from my 3 monitors, running under my desk.

Those 2.4GHz video senders barf all over WiFi and vice versa. They are very wideband and highly prone to interference. Unfortunately, there's not much of a wireless video alternative as there are very few unregulated public bands with enough bandwidth for video...

A couple of interesting things-

Transmitting VIDEO is compleetly different than transmitting VGA.

CompUSA sell a device by Grandtech USA that is basically the same as the Aussi link, expect not in kit form, its a finished product in a box with all the little connectors and cables.

Oh , these guys also sell a similar set up - http://www.polarisusa.com check the wireless video section - its pricey, but looks a bit more ruged / commercial - option antennas Etc.

I dono anyone that makes a truely wireless VGA to VGA setup (would love to find one though)

The cheaper solution is to scan convert VGA to video , then transmit the composit signal.

Look at the wireless presentation gateway and player (I cant tell the difference between the two)

A number of different companies make a prodcut to convert a VGA signal for transmition over cat 5 UPT. most of these devices DO NOT convert the signal to ethernet, only change the vga cable into UTP (and back) the more expensive devices actually convert the signal into IP/Ethernet data.

Another route -

Many companies make a device called a KVM switch. These switches are typically used to connect multiple computers to one Keyboard, Vga monitor, and Mouse (hence the name)

Many of the KVM makers now have A product that converts the signal to packets (tcp/ip / ethernet) The problem now is, I have yet to find one that will convert the IP data back into an analogue VGA / keyboard / Mouse signal.

They all make a software application (like pcanywhere or Win VNC) that runs on a client PC to connect to the box.

If you dont mind the client pc & the software app displaying in your VGA window- it would work

Video transmitters are comon these days - You can split the vga signal to R G B, and use a transmiter for each - then you just have the sync portion of the signal to worrie about - I dont know the specs on the sync.

did anybody try the wireless in there car? i am thinking of getting that but dont know if the picture would be just as same
